| A lot of things have happened since the last time I updated. Sorry I haven't written more here. I guess I haven't felt like updating much, but something that is on my mind is my girlfriend's dad. He's been having some health problems lately and is in the hospital. For those of you that are willing, please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks. | | |
| Easter weekend was really fun. I didn't get to see my family much, which I felt a little bad about, but I did see my dad and sister on Sunday so I felt a little better. That aside, I really enjoyed the weekend. Erin, the GF, came down Thursday night and stayed until Monday afternoon since she had a four day weekend. Friday night, most of Saturday, and Sunday morning were spent in IC with at her Aunt and Uncle's with her mom, dad, brother, aunt, uncle, two cousins, and one cousin's college roommate. Friday night was Captain's reception which, unfortunately, had to take place inside because of the cold weather outside. Captain's reception is basically sitting around talking about anything while drinking for hours on end. This was followed by a long game of Trivial Pursuit in which she and I almost one, but her brother and GF caught up for the win. Saturday was the annual Easter cook-off. Every Easter, her family picks a theme for a cook-off and everyone makes an entry. This year was appetizer's. She and I made our favorite dish from the Irish Democrat, bacon cheese fries. It was surprising how tasty they were and easy to make at home. We'll have to do it again in the future. So after a day of cooking, we somehow started talking about "The Big Lebowski" (a great movie and one of the best movie drinking games, in my opinion). Uncle Tommy was all about it and some people hadn't seen it so we went to Mr. Movies and I watched "The Big Lebowski" with a crowd of about half middle-aged people (who ended up really liking it) and drinking the night away. Sunday morning was short since Erin's parents, cousin, and cousin's roommate had to leave in the early afternoon, but we had time for a short indoor Easter egg hunt (only a dozen eggs) and a little more chatting before we went our separate ways. It's just such a different atmosphere than any of my family gatherings (mostly because my family gatherings don't involve much alcohol and no exchanging of very dirty jokes.) I was much more comfortable around her family this weekend and am really starting to enjoy being around them. Here's hoping for many more Captain's receptions and weekends to come. | | |
| There was some really crappy weather this weekend. I drove out to Illinois to visit my girlfriend anyway and I didn't have any problems until I was about half an hour away or closer from her place. It was snowing really hard and blowing a lot. I was on the highway and couldn't tell if the car was actually moving because everything was white and the speedometer said I was going 30 MPH. I think it was the scareiest weather I've ever driven in, but I made it there okay. Erin surprised me when I got there with a very nice candlelit indoor picnic on the floor of her living room. We ate cheese, fruit, and drank sparkling grape juice. It was a nice way to relax after the tense driving. The rest of the weekend was spent inside watching movies, doing a little homework, and generally being lazy. That was nice because this next week before Spring Break is very busy. Yay. I hope the weather's done now so the frat can go on our retreat next weekend. | | |
| My dad called me yesterday and told me some great news: my college is paid for in full! It's a very nice feeling to know that I won't have any kind of college debt after I graduate. Now I just need to worry about finding a job and becoming gainfully employed.
The Presidential Ball was this weekend and was a lot of fun. It was the most fun I've had at a Pres. Ball. My girlfriend was here and we went to dinner with heterolifemate #1 and his GF at a Japanese Grill. It was extremely good! I ate more than I usually do at one time and didn't feel all that full. We stayed at Pres. Ball almost the whole four hours, which I didn't expect, but I think that's because we were having a good time talking to friends we don't see often and doing at least a little dancing. It may have also seemed to go by so quickly because of a little drinking, but it was an enjoyable evening. Now if only people would put some pictures on facebook so I can steal them. | | |
